Amritan Shishire Wahni (In the winter, fire is nectar)

To-day is 21st December, 2011. It is very cold. I have worn my warm clothes- woolen shirt, jacket, sweater, trouser, socks etc. Even then the cold is affecting and it is very painful. I have reached my office. The heater is on. The heat of the heater touches my limbs. It gives special pleasure which warm clothes can not give. I am thinking about the persons who have no warm clothes. The pleasure of getting the heat of the fire for them is inexpressible.
“Amritam shishire wahni, amritam priyadarshanam. Amritam raaj sammanam amritam ksheer bhojanam.” In this shloka, four nectars have been described. But, fire in the cold has been put on the top. This shows the extreme pleasure of having heat in the cold. Second nectar is the meeting of the dearest. The third is royal honor given to a person and the fourth is eating milk and its product. The poet of the shloka is of olden time when air-conditioner and heater were not in use. In the the burning summer, coldness of A.C. is also very pleasant but in poet’s time AC was not in use. Sheetal, mand, sugandh (cold, slow and scented) for wind is described in books by poets. But this is not in the four nectars. It may be because in summer, one can enjoy it in the forest and in old time there was no scarce of forest. But, in winter, cold was very painful for yogees (sages) who generally have no clothes at all. And so for them it was number one nectar.
To meet the dearest gives immense pleasure. When the beloved and lover meet after a long time, pleasure of them is beyond words. When parents meet their children after a long time, the pleasure is beyond expression.
When I get honor from a great person, it is incomparable. Suppose, someone is given Bharat-Ratna, Param-Veer-Chakra, Padma-Vibhushan or Padma-Bhushan or any other prize from Honorable President, can you imagine his pleasure? Simple meeting gives immense happiness, what about getting prize?
In ancient time, vegetarian food was given priority. Non-vegetarians were condemned in the society. Among vegetarian foods, milk and its products were very tasty, healthy, and easily digestible and have been called nectar. That was the reason that cows were treated like mother and abode of all gods. Cow-slaughtering was the greatest peccadillo and unpardonable.
But, among all, fire in the winter gave heart touching bliss and so it was placed on top most position.

HE THAT IS DOWN NEEDS FEAR NO FALL

‘Jake kachhu na chahiye soi shahanshah’.We don’t put our bags on our heads in the train. I also sit on the birth and the luggage is also put on it. Coming in the world, I totally forget the Almighty Who brought me in the world and is running the whole universe. Who brings milk in the mother’s breast just after the birth of a new baby? Who feeds the baby in the womb? Who has manufactured this miraculous universe? Who makes day and night. Who has created rivers, mountains, oceans, the earth, the moon, the sun, the planets and our wonderful galaxy? Who has made the beautiful flowers? The birds, animals, creatures in the sea and all around, the human beings, the male and female pairs of all live creatures, the water, the clouds, the rains, the rainbow, the solar and lunar eclipses etc. are very peculiar riddles. From the very childhood I have been watching these puzzles but no answer I have found till date of the above questions.
What is the purpose of all these things? What is death? Where does one go after death? What is rebirth? What is ghost? Can one explain the universe? One cannot know all these things. But there is one Person Who knows all these things. If I merge myself to That, I can also know everything. What is the process of merger? It is very simple but people think it very tough. The place of The Person is in the heart of the human body which is in the right side of the chest contrary to the biological heart which is in the left side of the chest. If I also begin to remain in the heart all the time, I can merge myself to That. For this I have to make regular practice.Initially,I have to do ‘Who am I’ process but after some time I become stable and start to enjoy in remaining in my permanent place, the heart. How simple is this?-------------------------Ohm Namo Bhagvate Shri Ramanay.

YEN BAALO NA PAATHITAH (WHO DID NOT GIVE EDUCATION TO HIS CHILD)

“Maataa shatru pitaa vairee yen baalo na paathitah. Na shobhate sabhaa madhye hans madhye wako yathaa.” The parents are enemies, who do not give education to their children. The illiterate does not look beautiful in the assemblies, like a duck among swans. “Roop youvan sampannah, vishaal kul sambhavah. Vidyaa heena na shobhante nirgagandhaah iv kinshukah.” A person is a very handsome youth having robust health, but he does not look good without education, like the flower ‘Palash’ having no scent.
When one feels that a job will be performed even in his absence, he would never take interest. When he feels his presence and involvement essential, he concentrates sincerely. I remember one of my friends’ relative’s remarks. One day I with my friend went to his relative house. It was winter season and some people were playing playing-cards in the sun in the campus. My friend’s relative was lying on the bed covered in a blanket. His son was doing gardening work. After our arrival, his son became busy in attending us. When he was alone I enquired about his health indicating him sleeping in the day time. He smiled and replied that he was quite well and hearty. He was only pretending to be looked like a sick so that his son could work sincerely. When his son would see his father well and robust, he would become lazy and would leave the work for his father.
In our day to day life, we see people doing homework of their children. They seldom allow their children to labor. Their all works are being done by servants. The result is that their children become dull. They become ‘chhahariyaa lappa’, the plant in the shed, unable to give fruit. The child who does his homework and all other works himself becomes far better and become successful in the life. They are like the plant in the open sky which is capable to bear sun, rain, cold and wind and can give good fruit. If someone does not give opportunity to his child to work and experience himself, he is the biggest enemy of his child.

THE MASTER COOK.

One of my friends doesn’t know cooking. When he first time told this to me, I was surprised and thought he was speaking white lie. Till that time, I thought cooking and eating the most simplest and urgent jobs in the world which everyone must know. But I was wrong. When I came to know about one of my close senior relatives also not knowing cooking, I realized the fact. I started to study the reason why some people don’t know the easiest thing. To-day I got the answer. When you do practice of anything, the toughest becomes easiest. When I leave the practice, the easiest becomes difficult. My friend belongs to a joint family. He was married to a girl who belonged to separate family. After marriage, the girl became dominating like most of the Indian individual families. He began to hate the joint families. He began to see only the demerits of the combined family. He became totally inclined towards his in-laws’ side and ignored the parents’ side. Naturally persons of parents’ side also started to keep distance. Ultimately, he became separate to enjoy the separate family. Initially, he found himself in great pleasure. After sometime, his wife became ill. There was none to see her. He had to take leave. The whole money was spent on the treatment. He became very poor. His other brothers and sisters are in good positions. No one knows the fate of a person. “Triyaa charitram purukhasya bhagyam, daivo na jaanaati kuto manushyah.” In joint family, by whose fate we prosper is not known.
Now my friend has become master cook. He has worked the job of a cook in so many hotels. He and his wife prepare food for so many persons and keep it in tiffin boxes. My friend takes the tiffin boxes on his cycle to so many offices. Before marriage he had not got chance to cook food. His mother and sisters never gave such opportunity to him and that was the reason of his ignorance about the cooking. He never knew how to cook rice, pulse and vegetables. He didn't even know how to ignite the oven. He had no experience of facing oven heat in the burning summer, washing cooking pots with ice-cold water in winter and ignite the oven with wet wooden fuel in rains. He never knew about the illness of his mother and sisters.

NAVRATH (7)

I enjoyed Sauraath Sabhaa too much. During sabhaa periods we had summer vacation in our schools and colleges. I visited the place all the days. Most of my friends and relatives came there. I enjoyed meeting and talking with them very much. So many relatives of distant places stayed at my residence. We used to make prior arrangements for their halt. This was usual feature of nearby villages of Sauraath. Those days, it seemed like a festival in the whole area. After my marriage, visiting Sabhaa-Gaachhee gave more pleasure. The reason was that, before marriage I felt some fear and shame to talk regarding marriage. The fear was due to forceful marriage introduced newly those days. The shame was natural due to nourishment in the Mithila Culture and ancient Sanskrit family background.
My hero Navrath had worn red dhotee and white kurta. Red dhotee was the symbol of the candidate ready to marry. The candidates were taken interviews. Selection was based on the answers given by them. If the boy was found inferior to the girl, he had to pay some nominal dowry. If the girl was found inferior in quality and dynasty, her guardian had to give nominal dowry. Due to evaluation on reign, a better family male married so many brides. Sometimes the number increased so much that the bridegroom was unable to recognize his all brides. That was the worst system which was highly condemned in our youth group. The result was obvious, so many poor background bachelors remained unmarried. The unmatched age group youths and minor girls were made couples. laaloo, Baaloo, Bikkoo and Kaaloo are examples of this unmatched marriage. There was a big gap in the age of them with their wives. No maid remained unmarried. population of girls was lower due to male dominating society. The deficiency was also due to a single better background male marrying unlimited number of girls. ---------------------contd.
