Our beloved ex president, genius scientist, missile man,
Bharat-Ratna APJ ABDUL KALAM is no more. He had gone to IIM, Shilong to give a
lecture on ‘Livable Planet Earth’. He was called Missile Man. His was the major
role in sending India in space and achieving Missile capacity. His ‘Agni’ and
‘Prithwi’ ballistic missiles made national security stronger. He had special
interest in literature and music. He was inspiration of our youth. He was
elected as 11th president of India on 18th July 2002. He
took oath of the post on 25th July, 2002. His period ended on 25th
July, 2007.

President, Dr Abul Pakir jainulabdin Abdul Kalam was born on 15th
October, 1931 in a middle class Muslim family at the village Dhanushkodi of the
historical famous spiritual (Related to Lord Rama, the famous Setu Bandh
Rameshwaram, the worship place of Lord Shiva by Lord Rama before making the
famous bridge and after conquering
Lanka) small coastal town Rameshwaram,
Tamilnadu. Mr Abul was his great grand father, Mr Pakir was his grand father and Mr Jainulabdin was his father. His father used to give boat on rent to fishermen. Kalam
had four brothers and five sisters. I have visited Kalam’s house where he spent
his child hood. He started his primary education in the age of five in the
Panchayat Primary School. He had to sell news papers also to continue his
study. He studied his high school period in Ramnathpuram School. He did
graduation (B.SC.) in 1950 from St. Josef College Tricharapalli.He graduated in Space Science in 1957 from
Madras Institute of Technology and started job in HAL Bengaluru in 1958. He
joined in VIkram Sarabhai Space Research Centre Thumba in 1960. He came to
Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) in 1962.
