ELEVATION-DEPRESSION (1)

Nabonath is a special personality. Educationally, he neither studied in any school in regular course nor gave any examination. He went to brahmacharyashram with some of his friends of his age. His father was a poor farmer and totally illiterate. He never encouraged his son to study. Rather he did not give importance to education. He engaged Nabo in farming and taming pets like cows, oxen and she-buffaloes. But, Nabo’s brain was very sharp. Imitating his friends, he occasionally went to the ashram. Seeing his intelligence, Gurujee (the tutor) liked him very much and wanted him to come regularly. Nabo had keen interest in uttering loudly the Veda-Mantras. Sometimes, he participated in Yagyas and enjoyed there too much. Seeing his correct pronunciation, organizers always selected him. In this way, he learnt some Veda-Mantras and Sanskrit Shlokas. One day, quarreling with his father, he fled away from home and reached Asansole where his cousin was working in railways as an assistant driver. With the help of his cousin, he got a job in A.H.Wheeler’s book- stall on the station. A railway officer had keen interest in reading books. He always visited the book-stall and purchased books. He liked the behavior of the little child too much. He employed the boy as a fireman in the railways. After sometime, Nabo became assistant driver and later driver in electric goods and passenger trains. -----------------------contd.
