SITA NAVAMEE

Sita’s character in Ramayana is full of sorrows. Raajaa Janak found her in the field while ploughing. It is said that Ravan, the king of Lanka was a very wicked giant. He collected the blood of sages and put it in a jar. Shutting the mouth of the jar, he put it under the ground at Sitamarhi in Mithila, the state of King Janak. This was turned into a beautiful girl child, Sita which appeared during cultivation. That was the reason that since very childhood, Sita was very genius and strong (The child produced by the collection of blood of so many sages will naturally be possessing enormous energy). She daily lifted the bow of Lord Shiva while sweeping the floor under the bow. This was the very bow which no one became able to lift except Ram. Even ten thousand kings could not lift it jointly. Ram lifted it and when he tried to incline it and to put the thread on, it was broken in two pieces with a loud sound.
Now, we can think the power of Sita and Ram. Sita had more energy than ten thousand kings and Ram had unlimited power. Ravan didn’t dare even to touch the bow. Then, how is it possible that he can kidnap Sita forcibly. Sita, with the consent of Ram, herself went with the demon to kill him and all his wicked supporters. Before the abduction, Ram says,’ Sita, you stay sometime in the fire while I am killing the satans’. It clearly says that Ram had planned to kill Ravan far before. This may be called to catch a savage by putting him in illusion. There were several causes to kill the monster, but Ram wanted some stronger cause. The abduction of one’s wife is sufficient reason to kill the kidnapper and his supporters to recover his wife. The monster fell in the trap. No moralist can support such abductor. So, all good persons of the world supported Ram’s act. Hence, I can say that Ram was greater politician than Ravan. Ravan had only animal power. Before moralist, animalism cannot stay long.
Sita is ideal in every field. She is a model daughter, model wife, model daughter-in-law, model sister-in-law and model in every relation that a woman can have. King Dasrath had ordered Ram to go to forest, not to Sita. Her parents, in-laws and all other relatives forbade her to go to jungle indicating the threat of  demons and other difficulties there. But, she strongly opposed and went with Ram saying that there is no happiness anywhere for a woman without husband. “Toot foot ghar tapkat khatiyo toot; piya ke banh usisbaan sukh ke loot”. Meaning is, ‘The house is damaged and the roof is leaking, the cot is damaged but the pleasure is indescribable if the arm of husband is available as pillow.’ I.e. wife’s heaven is with husband and nowhere. In the present context, we cannot think about that. To-days women are far more advance and think these orthodoxies futile. That’s why; no couple can be imagined to become Sita and Ram. Of course, Ram is also unavailable. Only crowd of Majnoos is found.
In the Ramayana, Sita’s character has become more superior on some occasion than even Ram. Ram tests Sita by ordering her to enter into the fire. He sends Sita to the forest while she was pregnant, only to show him just on the blame of an ordinary person like a washer man. Is it justice? Why Ram shouldn’t go to the test to enter into the fire? This can be said the decision of male dominating society. But, this shouldn’t be taken like that. Ram bears more pain without Sita. Husband without wife is more helpless and in more pitiable condition. But, Ram accepts this challenge. This should be taken as “The king gives more importance to the most ordinary person than his dearest wife”. This character is impossible today.
Sita obeys all orders without murmuring, thinking that her husband cannot be wrong. How many women can have such faith on her husband? Rather, women have more faith on her maternal side’s persons than her husband. In more cases, the thought of the couple is just reverse to each other causing quarrelling most of the time. The fault is of both sides. Husband never gives proper regard to his wife.
On this pious day of Maa Janakee’s birth day, we should take oath to be Ram and Sita. -----------------------------Jay Maan Jaanakee. ---------------ON Jaanakee Navamee.
